Alterna describes this product as:
A nourishing elixir that treats the hair and scalp to maximize hair’s potential length.
The first time I tried this, I hated it. I felt like it did nothing but weight my hair down. But for some reason, I kept on giving it a try. After a while, I noticed my hair was getting softer and healthier. I would let my hair air dry, and it would look so smooth. I even got remarks on how much my hair looked longer and fuller. And then the bottle was empty. I figured oh well, imma give somethin’ else a try.
A few weeks went by, and my hair just didn’t feel the same anymore. Without having changed anything else to my routine, it just wasn’t as smooth. It just didn’t feel the same. So, I got another bottle. Same thing. The smoothness returned and all was well.
Once it was empty, I just thought yeahhh nah, I’m fine. My hair’s fine.
So, here I am with my third bottle.
I’ve been trying to go on without this stuff (because it’s so freakin’ expensive), but I can’t. Now, don’t get me wrong, it doesn’t make my hair miraculously grow. But it does have a wonderful smoothing effect (did I mention how smooth my hair was) and it has made a huge difference in hair’s strength. My ends are less prone to breakage, which makes them appear longer.
It says on the bottle to: “Massage a pea-sized amount into the scalp and work through the lengths of damps, freshly cleansed hair.” The first time I tried it, that’s exactly what I did, which I do not recommend. It made my hair greasy and simply unpleasant. What I do, I pump about 2 pumps in my hands, rub them together and concentrate the product on the lengths and the ends, and then I massage what’s left on my scalp. I apply this before any other styling products.
If you have thin, damaged and/or fragile hair, I highly recommend giving this a try.
Let me know if you like it 🙂
